TYPE PUNK

Games, Interaction, Exhibition, Analogue

Type Punk: Interactive analogue game
Concept: This tactile game was designed and made for the Grad Show at Emily Carr. This interactive game encouraged audience members to engage with images and poetry, as well as location specific words, in carefully chosen typefaces. This has the aim of encouraging graphic designers to feel more agency and connection to their city. It also intended to nudge the audience on what is usually published and what is not.
Status: Complete. Was exhibited as part of my MDes exhibition at Emily Carr.
Origin: Master of Design exhibition project.

EXHIBITION DESIGN

Materials, Tactile Design, Exhibition, Typography, Storytelling

Whisper: Exhibition Design
Concept: This design, for the  Emily Carr Master's Grad Show, centred around displaying the process of design, and typography’s role within it. This was articulated through material choice and transparent design processes on one side, and experimental publications on the other. Giant punctuation framed the visual story, with focussed narrative points along the way to draw the reader in. Care was taken over each exhibiting decision to ensure that process and material cues were given to the audience member, eschewing traditional approaches which view the object as the focus—not how or why it was made.
Status: Complete. Was exhibited as part of my MDes exhibition at Emily Carr.

THE GIDDINESS & LONELINESS OF A NEW CITY

Handwriting, Model Making, Signage, Neon

The giddiness & loneliness of a new city: Neon Signage
Concept: Neon writing of the words 'giddy' and 'lonely' to reflect the feeling of arriving in a new city and the excitement and overwhelm that this experience can bring on. I have intentionally left the el-wire neon where it has fallen on both pieces to emphasise the feelings expressed.
Status: Complete.
Origin: Self-initiated.
