MAKING & BREAKING THE BOOK: PUNK APPROACHES
Books, Book Design, Layout, Typefaces
Making & Breaking the Book: Prop-scale book designed to be part of my MDes exhibition.
Concept: Designed to look as if two spreads have been torn from its coptic-bound base, intended to encourage the audience to question whose stories are published, and how. Typeface choice was used as a design feature throughout, combining the nostalgic fun of Lobster (evoking a love of vintage print) with the modern clean lines of Alegreya Sans Thin. Black and red were used throughout to further tie the idea to its publishing concept.
Status: Complete. Was exhibited as part of my MDes exhibition at Emily Carr.
Origin: Master of Design exhibition project.

STREET & SKY STORIES
Books, Polaroid, Explosion Binding, Analogue
Street & Sky Stories: Hand-bound and crafted publications.
Concept: These in-hand scale, explosion and gate-fold bound, hand-crafted mini books explore the idea of immersing yourself in your city environment through tactile designed objects. These utilized my double-exposed Polaroid images, overset with both technical insights and urban poetry from my own practice. The Courier typeface was used throughout this booklet in order to evoke analogue and technical research logs, and by doing so encourage the reader to try their hand at their chosen techniques.
